COVID-19 Protective MeasuresOur dental office has made every effort possible to provide a safe environment for out patients, staff, and our families. We have followed public health recommendations regarding protective measures in the office. We feel it is extremely important to maintain good oral health, especially during these stressful times. Good oral health is important in maintaining good overall health.
We have had surgical clean air (SCA) purifiers in our office for the past 8 years to help purify the air. We now have SCA purifiers with UV-C light disinfectors in each operatory and a large UV-Hepa filter unit in the office hallway. There is also a UV Hepa Filter unit in the waiting room. Doors have been installed where necessary to enclose the operatories and a window exhaust fans to the outside have been installed in each of the operatories to assist with air exchange. The amount of air exchange achieved has enabled us to reduce the fallow time (time for any aerosol to settle out the air) to less than 15 minutes. After which time the operatories are thoroughly disinfected; counters, handles, chairs, tubing, dental light, etc. are wiped down with an appropriate disinfecting agents, as well as surfaces sprayed with Lysol. Patients are pre-screened at the time of booking, 48 hours before their appointment and at their arrival. Upon entering, patient are required to wear a mask, sanitize and use our shoe covering dispenser. Temperature and oxygen saturation are checked for each patient to aid in our COVID-19 screening. Forms are filled out with a complimentary pen. We were recently advised that the original recommendation of a 1.5 hydrogen peroxide pre-rinse has been found ineffective against viruses. We have now switched to IoRinse from IoTech International. This is a molecular iodine formulation that has been shown to kill both bacteria and viruses such as COVID-19, after a 30-60 second rinse. This has now been recommend by Public Health Ontario. We are treating all patients as if they were COVID-19 positive. Dr. Temple, Ines and our Hygienists are protected with proper PPE, such as Hair Bouffant, face shields, N95 or equivalent masks, gowns, gloves and shoe covers for outside shoes. Gowns, gloves, shields and masks are changed after every patient. Staff are monitored daily by temperature as well as upon arrival to the office. We have tried to stagger appointments between Dr. Temple and the Hygienists so that only 2 people will be in the waiting at a time. Compromised patients are accommodated either at the beginning or end of the day. we take the COVID-19 pandemic extremely seriously. We are here to assist you in maintaining good oral health. We hope to see you soon. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. |
